Robert "Bob" L. Sieckmann:(5-22-17 nf) HPROA member Bob Siechmann passed away on May 11, 2017 in the Trinity, Texas area. A memorial service is pending in Trinity in early June. Additional information will be posted as it becomes available.

Call to Order:  President Steve Rayne called the meeting to order at 8:30 a.m.

Prayer and Pledge of Allegiance:  Nelson Zoch

Present:  Ashby, Barnard, Beale, Blair, Elkin, Gaines, Kivela, Potell, Rayne, St.John, Toth, Walschburger, Zoch 
Absent:   Miller

Sergeant at Arms:  Robert Crane 

Parliamentarian:  Ed Aldridge

Determination of Quorum: A quorum was present.

Treasurer’s Report and Minutes of Previous Meeting: 
Motion by Ashby, 2nd by Barnard to approve minutes and treasurer’s report as printed.  Voice Vote.  Motion Carried.

President – Steve Rayne:
HPD Chief Art Acevedo will attend the general membership meeting today.
Chief Acevedo indicated he would like to become a HPROA Associate Member.
Motion by Kivela, 2nd by Walschburger to waive the one year $50 Associate Membership Fee for HPD Chief Art Acevedo. [More]

(4-9-17 nf) Forrest reports that Don was in the hospital a month ago fighting pneumonia and near death. He has since recovered and is back at Park Manor Rehab center, 1014 Windsor Lake Blvd, Woodlands, 936-273-9424. Hopes to attend meeting this week. Let's keep Don in our daily prayers.

Harold Hanna:(4-9-17 nf)  Harold underwent surgery Saturday morning at St. Luke's Woodlands to remove blockage in artery in left leg. [More]

Here is the latest:
SB 2190 was stripped of the 3 firemen friendly amendments, and was reported back to the Senate by the Conference Committee on Sunday evening. All five conferees of the Senate voted for this procedure.  At about the same time the House also voted to accept the Senate Conferees action, by a vote of their Conferees, which was by 4 members with one not voting in the affirmative.  The bill is scheduled to be presented to the respective bodies on Tuesday for concurrence. The by-laws of the HPROA state that the Board President and half of the Board  of Directors will be up for election every year. This year the following positions are up for election.

Any REGULAR MEMBER (not associate member) of the HPROA, who is in good standing with the association, can run for election to these positions.

Any REGULAR MEMBER wanting to run for any of the listed positions must contact the Chairman of the Nominating Committee before 5pm on Wednesday June 7, 2017.

Family Asistance Update
May 2017
Ron Headley:(5-22-17 nf) Ron underwent knee replacement surgery this morning at St. Luke's Medical Center hospital. We visited with him by phone at 4:30 PM and he was back in his patient room #Y-1814 and stated that he was without any pain and the therapist had performed some light therapy and he could tell he had more flexibility in the knee than before surgery. Give him a call at 832-355-4572 & pray for his recovery.
