Freddy G. Black A member of the HPROA passed away on Tuesday, July 19, 2016, at the age of 74. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. He joined the Houston Police Department on August 28, 1967, Academy Class #36. During his career with the Houston Police Department he was assigned to the Northeast Division, Traffic and Accident Division, Northwest Division, and the Emergency Communications Division, retiring on January 5, 1988. Sergeant Black is the father of Senior Police Officer Ronald E. Black, assigned to the Downtown Division. He is survived by his wife of over 44 years, Donna Black.
The body is entrusted with Sneed Funeral Chapel, 201 East 3rd Street, Lampasas, Texas 76550 (512) 556-1183. A visitation will be held at Sneed Funeral Chapel on Thursday, July 21, 2016, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Funeral Services will be held at Sneed Funeral Chapel on Friday, July 22, 2016, starting at 10:30 a.m. There will not be a graveside service.
