Retired Police Officer Alfred B Lewis passed away on Wednesday, December 2, 2020, at the age of 92. He is a United States Navy Veteran. He is the father of Retired Senior Police Officer Debra L. Gryder, who retired on May 13, 2004; father-in-law of Senior Police Officer Gary A. Gryder, who was Killed in the Line of Duty on June 29, 2008; and grandfather of Police Officer Austin A. Gryder, assigned to the Northwest Division. Officer Lewis joined the Houston Police Department on November 16, 1950, Academy Class #6. During his tenure with the department, he was assigned to the Patrol Bureau, Traffic Enforcement, and Northwest Divisions. Police Officer Lewis retired on March 2, 1981.
