they would normally fly in and we encourage volunteers to bring some type 
of carry-on bag to assume the look of a flying passenger.  We appreciate a 
variety of visual profiles for the teams to practice on and welcome those who

RETIREE ANNUAL FIREARM QUALIFICATION CHANGES

Range will be closed on 2-20-2019 All Day    

RETIREE ANNUAL FIREARM QUALIFICATION CHANGES

Due to remodeling and updating of HPD’s two pistol ranges, Retired HPD officers are the ONLY people (except cadets) who can qualify at the HPD Academy Range between January 1, 2019 and April 1, 2019. Retirees can ONLY shoot the line at 11:00am MONDAY through FRIDAY.  The first (1st)Tuesday of each month the range is closed for maintenance!

Retirees still must fill out and send in a qualification application form. To get it go to the HPROA website. [More]
 

Family Assistance Update

Jon Devore (2-17-19 rh) In December Jon was diagnosed with stage three throat cancer. In January he began receiving chemo treatments at M.D. Anderson. On February 14 he completed the chemo and on Monday he will continue his treatments with radiation.  The chemo has been extremely hard on him, weakening him and as he described, making him feel like he has been toasted on the inside. Retiree Roundup
January 2019
Guy McMenemy (1-1-19 nf) Guy called and reported that he was released from the hospital late Monday and was at home taking his meds and hoping for a speedy recovery from abdominal hernia surgery. A few weeks later Guy developed complications from the surgery and had to be readmitted to the hospital. He had to undergo additional surgery. After being released from the hospital after the second surgery he transferred to Encompass Health and Rehab center where he received therapy.   He is now home recovering. [More]
