John W. Vogelsang, Jr. Retired Senior Police Officer  passed away on Monday, February 3, 2020, at the age of 70. He was a Veteran of the United States Army. He is survived by his wife, Lidia M. Vogelsang; son Police Officer John Nickolas Vogelsang, assigned to the Mental Health Division; and daughter-in-law Police Officer Kathryn M. Vogelsang, also assigned to the Mental Health Division. Senior Police Officer Vogelsang joined the Houston Police Department on October 3, 1983, Academy Class #116. During his career with the department, he was assigned to the Southwest, Jail, Juvenile, and Westside Divisions. Senior Police Officer Vogelsang retired on February 21, 2009.
