PROHIBITION OF HOLSTERS WITH TRIGGER (INDEX) FINGER

RELEASE MECHANISMS

Effective January 1, 2020, NO holster requiring the trigger (index) finger to be used to defeat a

retention mechanism is authorized for use by Houston Police Department personnel or for ANY

other agency Law Enforcement officers (including Retirees) shooting at Houston Police

Department Firearms Ranges. This prohibition will be for ALL on-duty and off-duty carry

and for ALL training or qualification, regardless of employment.

Examples of index finger quick release holsters include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Blackhawk Serpa

• BlueTac Index Finger release

• HQDAOWB

• MOLLE Quick release

• Shadow Index

• TEGE Tactical Index-Finger release
