Gene Sheppard, A member of the HPROA, passed away on Sunday, May 14, 2017, at the age of 84. He was preceded in death by his wife Doris J. Sheppard. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran. He joined the Houston Police Department on September 8, 1958, Academy Class #19. Police Officer Gene Sheppard retired on May 29, 1981.

The Funeral Service will be held at Eastern Hills Church of Christ, 1200 East Corsicana Street, Athens, Texas 75751 (903) 675-3975, on Saturday, May 20, 2017, starting at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Poynor Cemetery, Shady Lane at Cemetery Road in Poynor, Texas 75782.
