Alfonso A. Baker, Jr. A member of the HPROA, passed away on Thursday, March 21, 2019, at the age of 61. He is survived by his wife, Mary Baker, and his son, Police Officer James D. Baker, assigned to the Westside Division; and preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Retired Senior Police Officer Martin Villarreal, Jr. who passed away on September 23, 2015. Sergeant Baker was a Veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. He joined the Houston Police Department on December 18, 1978, Academy Class #84. During his career with the department, he was assigned to the Southwest Division, Personnel Division, Field Training Division, Office of Public Affairs, and the Westside Division. Sgt. Baker retired on September 27, 2014.
