Sergeant Harold L Preston, assigned to the Southwest Division, died in the Line of Duty on Tuesday, October 20, 2020, at the age of 65. He joined the Houston Police Department on April 23, 1979, Academy Class #86. During his tenure with the department, Sergeant Preston was also assigned to the Northeast, Jail, and North Divisions.
A public viewing will be held at the Texas Southern University’s Graville M. Sawyer Auditorium, 3100 Cleburne Street, Houston, Texas 77004, on Wednesday, October 28, 2020, from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Funeral Services will be held at Grace Church Houston, 14505 Gulf Freeway, Houston, Texas 77034 (713) 363-2500 on Thursday, October 29, 2020, starting at 11:00 a.m. COVID-19 social distancing guidelines will be followed.
A private Graveside Service will be held at North Athens Cemetery, located on Edmonson Avenue, Athens, Texas, on Saturday, October 31, 2020.
