Senior Police Officer and HPROA Member Ernest Leal, Jr, assigned to the North Division, Died in the Line of Duty on Friday, November 27, 2020, at the age of 60. He is survived by his wife, Retired Senior Police Officer Dolores “Dee” Leal, who retired on May 22, 2004. He is also the cousin of Retired Sergeant Robert Calderon, Retired Sergeant Ricardo Calderon, Retired Senior Police Officer Raul Calderon, Retired Senior Police Officer Ray Calderon, Senior Police Officer Ruben Calderon, assigned to the Kingwood Division, and Sergeant Rene Calderon, assigned to the Airport IAH Division. Officer Ernest Leal joined the Houston Police Department on April 2, 1984, Academy Class #120. During his tenure with the department, he was also assigned to the Northwest, Northeast, and Jail Divisions.

Graveside Service and burial will be held at Memory Lawn Memorial Park, 19106 San Marcos Highway, Martindale, Texas 78655 (512) 357-6643, on Saturday, December 5, 2020, starting at 1:00 p.m.
