 Joseph Milton Schultea, Sr., HPROA Member, passed away on Friday, January 10, 2014.  Officer Schultea joined Police Academy Class #14 on May 21, 1956.  He later served as the Chief of Police of the Village Police Department serving that department from 1959 to 1988.  He also served as the Chief of Police of the Tomball Police Department from 1990 to 1992.  Chief Schultea returned to the Houston Police Department from 1996 to 2004 as an Administrative Specialist in the Planning and Research Division.  He is survived by his wife, Peggy Schultea and children, Retired Chief Joseph Milton Schultea, Jr. of the Patten Village Police Department, Sergeant James R. Schultea (PD-C) and Cynthia Schultea-Cortinas who is married to Senior Police Officer James H. Cortinas assigned to the Vehicular Crimes Division.  He is the brother of Retired Sergeant Vollie H. Schultea, Jr. and uncle of Police Officer Christopher Bruce assigned to the North Division, Deputy Paul Bruce, Jr. assigned to the Harris County Sheriff Department and Deputy Vollie H. Schultea III of Harris County Constable Office, Precinct One and the brother-in-law of Retired Lieutenant Robert W. Bruce of the Panorama Village Police Department.

The body is entrusted with Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, Texas 77039, telephone number (281) 449-6511, www.dignitymemorial.com.   Visitation for family and friends will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, January 14, 2014, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Funeral services will be held within the Main Chapel of Brookside Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 15, 2014, at 11:00 a.m.

Burial will follow with Military and Police Honors at Brookside Cemetery.
