Prayer and Pledge of Allegiance:  Steve Rayne

Present:   Aldridge, Ashby, Barnard, Beale, Gaines, Kivela, McDonald, Potell, Rayne, St. John, Toth, Walschburger, Zoch

Parliamentarian – James Bollig (absent)

Sergeant at Arms: Robert Crane 

Determination of Quorum: A quorum was present.

Treasurer’s Report and Minutes of Previous Meeting: 
Motion by Walschburger, 2nd by Potell to approve the Minutes and Treasurer’s Report as printed. Voice Vote.  Motion Carried.

President – Steve Rayne
The May 10, 2019 Police Week Memorial and Reception has been cancelled due to weather conditions.  
The Board of Directors positions up for election in August are President, 1st Vice-President, Treasurer, and Positions #2, #4, and #6.  
Steve Benavides has agreed to be Nomination Committee Chairman.  Those interested in any of these board positions should contact Steve at 281-381-7305 by 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 12th.  Candidates for each position will be announced at the June meetings.
E. J. Smith has agreed to serve as Election Committee Chairman again this year. 
Thanked Matt and Rosalie for the success of the HPROA 25th Anniversary Houston Reunion.   

Executive Director – Anthony Kivela
The Family Assistance Committee requested additional bronze plaques.  They were a budgeted item and Cathy will be handling the purchase.  The new plaques have increased to more than $45.00 each.
HPOPS Board Meeting Report:
o There was a retirement ceremony at HPOPS for John Lawson earlier this morning since he is retiring from HPOPS.  Officially, this was his last HPOPS Board Meeting as the fund’s Executive Director.  A breakfast was held in his honor.
o The HPOPS Board approved conducting a search for a new Executive Director.  Pat Franey was appointed as Interim Executive Director.  
The Board previously approved requesting that the Texas Senate present a proclamation to Bill Elkin for his many years in law enforcement and numerous accomplishments.  Confirmation was received from Senator Whitmire’s office that there would be an official Senate Resolution on the Senate floor on Tuesday, May 14, 2019.  The time is yet to be determined and will likely not be announced until the day before.

o Russell Ruth
o Michael L. Thomas
o Rosalinda Ybanez 

Motion by Potell, 2nd by St.John to adjourn meeting at 8:50 a.m.
